For this contest, you must produce a self portrait. It can be literal or abstract, realistic or fantastical - the choice is yours. Who knows you better than you?...
Surprisingly, many artists have never created a self portrait and from personal experience, studying your own face - one that you see every day - can really test your skills.
I remember one of the first things I had to do in Art class at school was draw my own face, and I'm sure the same will be true for many of you.
I always thought it seemed a bit weird - why on earth would I want to draw myself?!
In hindsight of course, it makes perfect sense. Sure, it can be challenging and sometimes frustrating but it can also show a side of you that is not visible from the outside.
How do I enter?
Upload your entry to your deviantART Gallery and send me a Note with a link to your entry.
Please do not link to an entry uploaded to an external site (e.g. Photobucket). If you do, it will not be featured in the contest.
Can I use any medium?
Sure - digital illustration, traditional illustration or photography - whichever you prefer.
I'm afraid text-based entries will not be accepted.
When's the contest deadline?
Plenty of time to submit - the final day for submissions is Wednesday 22 October 2008.
The results will be announced Saturday 25 October 2008.
Can I enter more than once?
No. Please only submit one entry.
What are the prizes?
If you would like to help me out by sponsoring the contest and offering extra prizes - Prints, subs etc. - please send me a Note.
If you intend to enter the contest yourself, please do not offer to sponsor.
There are prizes for the Top 3 entries:
GOOD LUCK!

Vlog 3 - What I've Been Up To In 2017
Hey dA.
Here's an update about my exploits this year so far. It goes a little way to explaining why I haven't been able to post much new work here. But that will change over the next couple of months as the projects go live and I don't have to keep it all secret!

Vlog 2 - Vlog Harder
I'm hoping to make these vlogs weekly - we'll see how long that lasts - so here's :bulletgreen:Vlog#2:bulletgreen:, featuring a time lapse of an Alan Rickman portrait I was commissioned to do on one of my 2016 Sketchbook variant covers (small number left in my Etsy store).
Also, I'm hoping to do a Q&A in a future video so if there's something you'd like to ask, post it here or anywhere on social media and I'll do my best to answer.

I've started vlogging!
One of my aims for 2017 is to add some new content to my YouTube channel so if you're not subscribed yet, why not hop on over and check it out?
First up is my first ever vlog.
I am a dork and I apologise in advance.

Question: Does it have to be in a realistic style? For example, could I draw a manga or cartoon portrait of myself?
