This is the final WIP posting for the Cruise portrait. Next time you see it, will be as a finished piece. :w00t:

Having them side by side like this is really helpful as an artist. You can see quite clearly how the overall colour has shifted from being quite a bright, orange/pink to a much darker, brown/orange colour. It's also clear that I work in quite specific stages: eyes > nose > mouth and then the immediate surrounding area.

WIP4

Includes the background and rough colours for the jacket. I'm deliberately keeping the non-face detail simple so as not to distract from that finely chiseled jaw. :|

There's still a fair amount of fine-tuning to be done on the face, but you can see the suggestion of a stubbly chin (nothing more than a few strokes of the smudge tool) and some more hair highlights. Mostly small details and texturing left to be done. :D

:bulletred:I've downsized the full view since it's getting quite large, but be sure to Download the full size view for some close-up details.:bulletred:

Thanks very much. I like to add the stages in the process for folks to see as it not only helps explain how I work, but also provides a little insurance against people thinking the final piece is not a painting.

Thanks for the :+fav: too. :aww:

Whoa... when I saw the finished one, it looked like a photograph... your CG skills are amazing!

Excellent WIP; it gives a good look into the process and the necessary steps for creating such an image as this.

How many hours is that? I'm working on a Keanu Reeves portriat and I got in at about 12 hours and it's almost done.

You're about th eskin tone, it changes as you go along. But that's the process. It's better to go from light to dark than it is to go from dark to light.

Submit the finished piece quickly, I have been waiting for it. :)
