Pointilism - Lisa Snowdon by BikerScout Pointilism - Lisa Snowdon by BikerScout
I guess this really belongs in my Scraps, but it's been such a labour of love. The majority of the image is hair, which is a real pain in the bum from a pointilism perspective.

The hair is definitely the focus. The detail on the face is deliberately minimal. It's getting there. I'll update this one as it progresses. :)

Absolutely incredible. Also reminds me a bit of Sarah Connor, from the Terminator series.

This one has such passion even though I am not fond of pointilism. When I first saw this I immediately thought of Daryl Hannah in Kill Bill. I am not familiar with Lisa Snowden. This one seems to have that evil passion that Daryl portrayed so well in that movie. ;)

That's a great comparison and I can see how you made it. Lisa is one of those 'former model turned TV presenter' types. She dated George Clooney for a while.

I chose this reference image mainly because of the hair rather than the subject. In hindsight, I wish I hadn't. :faint: I'm hoping to finish this one off over the summer. :)

first off no need to put it in scraps....i personally like to see WorksInProgress..i also show my pointilism WIPs in my gallery...kinda give me and people an insight to the transaction from sketch to finished product.as for this particular piece...it looks brilliant...the hair is well done and yes it can be a pain yet so rewarding.great job

Thanks again for the feedback. I'm actually fairly close to trying to get this one finished. I've been concentrating a lot on digital recently. Time to kick it old skool... ;)

Hmm, I suppose I should try to do more and study depth, that is my true weakness there.

I find it best to block out the 100% black areas and then go from there - look for your midtones, extreme light areas etc. Sometimes it can be tricky to balance the tone and don't just add dots for the sake of it - a few dots can make a big difference! :)

My work used to be nothing but pencil, but since I work with computers everyday, it seeme like the logical progression to move towards digital. I still do the occasional traditional piece, but it's mostly painting in Photoshop.

I work with Illustrator in my day-job, but it's pretty dull stuff mostly. :bored: When I get home, I kick back with my Wacom tablet - an essential tool for anyone used to traditional mediums - and do the stuff that I love!

huh, I am still old school I guess. I tried to use my photoshop, I am not to great at it. I am still trying to master the pen and paper. ;)
