Part 1 of my Director Series

Welles was both an accomplished actor & director. He famously turned down the opportunity to provide the voice for Darth Vader in the original Star Wars and created mass hysteria when his reading of War of the Worlds was broadcast on radio and everyone thought it was real.

A genius. :salute:

This piece took approximately 6 hours to complete, a dozen or so layers, A4 @ 300dpi.

Great director, but KANE made too many enemies. So he never was able to really totally top it, though TOUCH OF EVIL, OTHELLO, and THE MAGNIFICENT AMBERSOMS came damn close.

Orson Welles in younger days, when he had just started his acting career...

Gotta love this guy. Even in death, he is a well respected celebrity.

I have to admit, I've not seen many of his movies (long story involving being forced to watch Citizen Kane in film studies and hating it...) but maybe I should try and catch some. :)

I really like this pic. You captured their essence quite well. I enjoy your comment of Orson Welles as being an unsung hero. His writing is not so known in this age. I was "forced" to read an essay in English class ( to many years of scarring ), and to this day it had deepened my respect for him as a true entertainer.

You have chosen such unusual subjects for this mini series so I am having a very hard time telling you how brilliantly you have portrayed them (as opposed to how much I adore the work these inspiring men have produced).

Each director is captured in such classic but intriguing poses, the contrast really brings out their expressions and individuality. I wonder what they are thinking...'too much back light'? Or maybe 'why the hell arent these actors getting into character'? Or maybe they're just thinking what to eat for lunch =)

Agreed. These men are genius, but the way you have captured them so perfectly inspires me to keep writing and shooting.
