The third portrait in my unofficial series of not-entirely-unattractive women. ;)

I really love the reference photo for this shot. Very strong lighting effects (I'm guessing backlighting? Photogs correct me if I'm wrong...) resulting in an incredible white 'silhouette' at the edge of the hair which you can see in WIP3... it's very cool.

Wonderful skin tones which required some pretty subtle painting.

Nice. This is really inspiring to see what my drawings that look about like that can turn into. Keep em coming!:D

Unattractive women??
Hi Shirley. :) When the piece is completed I always retain the .psd file with the layers intact just in case I ever want to go back and amend some details or add to the piece. I create a merged .jpeg to upload to dA.

Yep, the initial sketch stage is usually traced over the reference image purely to make my life easier. I've spent years drawing by eye with graphite and proving to myself that I can get likenesses accurate.

With the digital painting, it's all about perfecting my style & getting comfortable with my painting technique rather than perfecting my drawing skills (which I'd like to think are pretty good by now!)
