Carlzon portrait by *BikerScout is so life-like you would swear he was looking right into your soul. Amazing lighting and skin textures make this an outstanding portrait painting! (

The secret is layering. If you look at the WIP stages, it starts off very rough and then the detail & colour is built up gradually. Check out the video tutorials of the Big Red Speedpaint. There's a lot of detail in there, or rather there *appears* to be more detail.
Stunning, and wonderfully detailed. You added a depth of color that the original photo (although amazing in it's own right) seemed to lack. The lines on his face are well detailed, the hair is the same.. The only criticism I could conjure up is about the hairline. It seems his face is.. floating? Like his head doesn't continue back to where his hair is.
Thanks so much for your comment. I've always struggled with hair & when painting digitally, I tend to work the hair on a separate layer, just in-case everything goes wrong (and it usually does...) I guess I was hoping most people wouldn't notice the stuff at the edges and would be focussed on the detail of the face. I'll have to bear in mind that that's not always the case. Thanks again.
